ELIM COUNSELLING SERVICE

Elim Counselling Service is a Christian counselling service located in Ottawa Canada. Elim  provides counselling for a wide range of mental health issues and other challenges. The services are provided by therapists who hold at least a master’s degree in counselling and have been certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association or other equivalent professional body. The following is a list of some of the areas of service that we offer:

Therapists at Elim are not only qualified to offer the very best in terms of psychological interventions but are also trained to incorporate the positive spiritual beliefs of clients as a means of helping to achieve clients' goals. As such our therapy is not only equipped to provide the best psychological treatment, but is also capable of addressing spiritual problems which are often inextricably linked to the many difficulties faced by individuals and couples.

  WHAT IS CHRISTIAN COUNSELLING?

Christian counselling in this context denotes at least three things: firstly, an openness to the spiritual beliefs and practices of clients. The latest research overwhelmingly shows that the spiritual beliefs of clients can be an important asset in coping with and working through difficulties. Secondly, Christian counselling signifies an awareness that even people who are not religious raise spiritual issues in counselling. Such issues include questions about deceased loved ones and anger towards God as a result of hardships that have entered their lives.  Thirdly, Christian counselling means that Counsellors are not only equipped to address psychological issues but are able to understand and address spiritual issues that often surface in counselling. It is important to note that Christian counselling does not imply any attempt to proselytize or promote any particular set of beliefs. It is also important to understand that Christian counselling is in no way inferior to other types of counselling that approach counselling from a world view that implicitly or explicitly exclude any belief in God. Christian Counselling in this context meet or exceed the standards set by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, the governing body of psychotherapy in Ontario.
